The concert will not only showcase the exceptional skills of Felix Klieser but will also feature the esteemed conductor Vahan Mardirossian, who will lead the orchestra through a thoughtfully curated programme. In addition to the horn concertos, the evening will include Butterworth’s The Banks of Green Willow, a beautifully serene English idyll, and Saint-Saens’ rarely performed Symphony No. 2, providing audiences with a rich and diverse musical experience.
Felix Klieser’s against-all-odds journey to becoming one of the most inspiring figures in classical music is a testament to his perseverance and passion. His unique method of playing the horn involves mounting the instrument on a stand and using his toes to change notes. His interest in horn playing began at the tender age of five, leading him to study at the Hanover University of Music, Drama, and Media from a young age. Over the years, he has garnered numerous accolades, including the ECHO Klassik Award Young Artist of the Year in 2014. He has performed with prestigious orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and has made appearances at renowned festivals like the BBC Proms. His debut CD, Reveries, received the ECHO Klassik Award, and he continues to enjoy a successful recording career with works by Bach, Mozart and Haydn. Additionally, he has premiered compositions dedicated to him, including Rolf Martinsson’s Soundscape.

Off stage, Klieser will conduct a horn masterclass on April 5 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall Backstage, 7/F. This offers a unique opportunity for aspiring horn players to learn from a true master. Observer tickets at $100, can be booked via email to info@ccohk.com.
